Woman Shot at in 'Celebratory' Firing on New Year's Eve by Ex-JDU MLA in Delhi
This is the third celebratory firing incident being reported from Delhi on New Year’s Eve. In the other two incidents, a minor was killed and another was shot at during the firing.

New Delhi: In an incident of celebratory firing on New Year’s Eve, a 42-year-old woman was shot in the head at a south Delhi farmhouse by a former JDU MLA.

The woman was rushed to a hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The police will record her statement once her condition is stable.

According to the woman’s husband, the accused Raju Singh fired a couple of rounds at around midnight and a bullet hit the victim in the head.

The couple was at the farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri owned by Singh’s mother and his two brothers live there.

According to Delhi Police, they received the information about the incident from the Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, at around 1am. The hospital informed police about a gun-shot injury received by a woman. The woman was unconscious at the hospital, police said. Police said they will record the statement of the victim once she is fit to give statement.

The accused is at large after the incident, while the police are trying to nab him. A case has been registered under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 34 (act done by several person in furtherance of common intention) IPC and sections of Arms Act.

The investigative team have questioned the a few guests who were present during the celebration.
