Recently, the son of a state minister has been caught by the police while driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.“Some of them tested positive in the alcometer breath-analyzer test and it is surprising that quite a number of VIPs do not follow the rules even after 10 months of strict enforcement of the rule against drunken driving,” says additional commissioner of police (traffic) CV Anand.Last weekend, the traffic police registered 270 cases against drunk drivers and seized 86 four-wheelers, 173 two-wheelers and 11 autorickshaws. Those who violated the rule were counselled, produced in the court and were levied fines ranging from `2,000- 3,000.
