Apple's 'Secret' Team Building the iCar in Germany
According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Apple has recruited 15 to 20 of the top minds in the automotive industry to work on their own version of an electric car.

A German newspaper reports that Apple has set up a secret research and development team in Berlin to work on an Apple car.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Apple has recruited 15 to 20 of the top minds in the automotive industry to work on their own version of an electric car. "Progressive thinkers" who come from backgrounds such as engineering, software, hardware and sales.

The vehicle dubbed the "iCar" is set to hit the market in 2019 or 2020.

According to the report, the car will be built by auto parts maker Magna in Austria.

Likewise, because Apple lacks a distribution network and workshop in Germany, it's speculated that the iCar will hit the market first in carsharing and rental schemes.

Unlike the Google vehicle, the iCar is not being developed to be driverless, for now.
