There's really no such thing as an "ordinary" Aston Martin, but for those who want something a little more special than the current spectacular lineup of dream cars from the legendary British manufacturer, there's now the DB11 AMR, which is the first model from the new performance arm of Aston Martin.
The Aston Martin DB11 AMR is the new flagship in the company's GT range, and it replaces the standard V12 in the automaker's portfolio. Orders are now being taken for the car that costs from £174,995 (about US$235,700) in its native UK and features a number of subtle mechanical and styling upgrades to the model it's now replacing.

One of the most headline-grabbing upgrades is the engine under the hood of this exciting new model. The 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 is still there, but instead of the 600 bhp of the one in the current car this one ups the power ante to 630 bhp. Peak torque remains unchanged, but that's not much of a problem as its 700 Nm is not exactly lacking and is going to be more than enough for most buyers.
By combining that extra power with improved shift calibration of the eight-speed automatic gearbox, the AMR has knocked 0.2 seconds off the DB11's 0 to 60 mph time, so it now takes just 3.7 seconds to get to 60 mph from a standing start. How much increasing the car's top speed by 8 mph to 208 mph adds to the car's desirability is questionable, but at least it helps differentiate it from the model it's replacing.

Perhaps the most obvious styling tweak afforded to the AMR is the set of lightweight forged 20-inch wheels it wears, which it's claimed deliver a sharper driving experience without harming ride comfort.
And if that's still not enough to quench your thirst for something special from Aston Martin, the company has also announced the launch of 100 limited editions versions of the AMR. These will be called the Signature Edition and feature a green and lime exterior finish and carbon fiber detailing inside and out. The cost for this limited run model is a very substantial £201,995 (US$272,000).
