Saina Nehwal Upgrades To Swanky Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Worth Rs 1 Crore

While Indian cricketers are often seen adding new vehicles to their collections, other sports icons too are showcasing their passion for powerful vehicles.

Recently, Indian professional badminton player Saina Nehwal joined this league by welcoming home a brand new Mercedes AMG GLE 53 SUV valued at Rs 1.61 Crore. Sharing the moment on social media, the sports star posted images and a video showing her cutting cake and taking delivery of the SUV, elegantly finished in black.

The car comes with AMG treatment, as it features the Panamericana grille, quad exhausts, alloy wheels, sporty AMG seats, lavish Alcantara leather upholstery, among other premium enhancements.

Underneath the hood, the GLE 53 develops its power from a robust 4.0 liter turbocharged V8 engine, finely tuned to churn out an impressive 603 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque. This engine works pleasantly with the 9 speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 280 kmph.

Highlighting its appeal are the 22 inch alloy wheels, unique LED DRL styling, a feature packed steering wheel with shortcut dials, plush Nappa leather seats, a twin screen infotainment system and a flexible air suspension designed to offer a customizable ride height for an enhanced driving experience.

Measuring 4939mm in length and a width of 2010mm, the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 has a stylish road presence that will surely turn many heads. Among its range of features, the vehicle also comes with climate control for enhanced comfort, a premium 13 speaker Burmester sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and an ambient lighting system offering 64 colours. The vehicle’s amenities also include practical elements such as remote engine start, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate for easy access and nine airbags, a blind spot monitor, a 360 degree camera system, as well as LED headlights.

Prior to acquiring the Mercedes AMG GLE 53, Saina Nehwal owned a BMW X6. Later, she was gifted a BMW 3 Series from God Of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, who was the Indian brand ambassador for the automaker at the time. The legendary cricketer gave this car to the Padma Bhushan awardee for her exceptional performance in the 2012 London Olympics. Additionally, Hyundai Motor India had honoured Nehwal’s victory in the Australian Open Championship by presenting her with the Creta First Anniversary Edition in 2016.

During her ongoing break from badminton due to knee injury, Saina Nehwal is utilizing this period to recharge and focus on her recovery. Despite the setback, the sports personality remains determined to return to international badminton in the upcoming months.
