'Encourage Everyone To Stay Alert': Sonu Sood After Sachin Tendulkar's Viral Deepfake Video
Sonu Sood shared the deepfake video on social media to clear the confusion and clarify that the individual in the video is not him.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, renowned for roles in films like Dabangg, Happy New Year, and Aagadu, recently found himself at the centre of a deepfake video controversy. The actor shared the deepfake video on social media to clear the confusion and clarify that the individual in the video is not him.

In the deepfake video, the imposter interacts with a family seeking financial aid for medical treatment. The fake Sonu Sood, present in the video, assured the family of financial support. Authorities are now probing the issue to halt the misuse of celebrities’ names in such scams.

The caption of the post reads, “My movie FATEH is inspired by real events with Deep Fake and fake loan apps. This incident highlights a recent case where someone pretended to be Sonu Sood in a video call, attempting to extort money from an unsuspecting family. It’s sad to see innocent people getting caught in such scams. I encourage everyone to stay alert if you come across such calls.”

Several social media users have filled in the comment section. One user wrote, “Full support for this movie”. Another user added, “Good lesson-giving movie”. “We are so excited to watch this film. Thank You, my dear big brother,” added another.

Some time back, a similar incident happened with Sachin Tendulkar as seen in a viral video on social media. In response, an FIR has been registered in the Sachin Tendulkar deepfake case. On Tuesday, authorities took action against a gaming website and a Facebook page related to the deepfake video. With the case officially registered, the police are now actively investigating the matter.

On the professional front, Sonu Sood shot to fame with films like Dabangg, Jodhaa Akbar, Dookudu, and Happy New Year. He has a few films lined up including Rambaan, Madha Gaja Raja, and an untitled film with Saif Ali Khan.

Besides this, he has assumed the dual roles of writer and director for his upcoming film, Fateh. Drawing inspiration from actual incidents, Sonu dedicates over a year and a half to research, conducting interviews with victims, cybercrime police, ethical hackers, and more. Reports suggest that the actor will depict a tech-savvy investigation agent on a mission to safeguard the country’s people from cybercrime.
