New Delhi: Tata Group on Tuesday announced change of guard at one of its most prestigious group companies TCS where N Chandrasekaran would succeed S Ramadorai, the man who played a key role in transforming the software company into a six billion-dollar global firm.
"The board of directors has named N Chandrasekaran, COO and Executive Director, as CEO designate, with the intention that he would be appointed CEO and MD with effect from October 6, on retirement of S Ramadorai," Tata Consultancy Services said in a statement.
TCS is one of the most valued firms among the Tata group with a market capitalisation of Rs 61,084.87 crore as of today, which is way above that of the three other group firms which are part of the benchmark Sensex on BSE. Tata Steel, Tata Power and Tata Motors are the other Sensex companies.
Ramadorai is retiring on October 5 after a little morethan five years as CEO during which he took the company to dizzy heights.
Under his leadership, TCS UK s turnover has grown to over one billion dollar, helping to create over 4,200 jobs in England. TCS is the country's biggest software exporter in terms of revenue. He has been awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to Indo-British economic relations.
