Lokesh Kanagaraj is stepping back from social media as he prepares to begin his new film. Prior to his hiatus from the public eye, the director extensively discussed Leo and his upcoming projects with media outlets. One of the highly anticipated pieces of information from Lokesh was regarding the fate of his collaborative cinematic universe, known as LCU. During a recent conversation with a YouTube channel, Lokesh shared his plans for the future.
According to Lokesh, there will be a lot of new characters in LCU who will replace the old ones. “The immediate film in LCU will be Kaithi 2. It will come immediately after Thalaivar 171. After that, between Rolex and Vikram 2, we have to discuss things,” he said.
The filmmaker confirmed that Thalaivar 171 will not be integrated into LCU; instead, it will be a standalone film. “I have already finished writing Kaithi 2 structure. Now, I have to write the whole thing. Since it is my home ground, I have to come up with things that people would expect from me.”
When asked about the characters within LCU, the director said that there will be many fresh characters. With each new installment, new characters will be introduced. “There will be a lot of new characters. With every other instalment, new characters will come in. For example, Sethu na (Vijay Sethupathi) is not there anymore. So, someone has to come in to take care of the distribution. Like that new characters will come in taking up the mantle of the dead ones,” he shared.
Leo’s inclusion in LCU has boosted the film’s star power, with Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Suriya, Karthi and Fahadh Faasil also playing crucial roles in the cinematic universe. There is immense anticipation about how the storyline will unfold. Considering the extensive lineup of films, it will likely take a minimum of three years before witnessing the ‘End Game’ of LCU.
