Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar made his first ever visit to Kashmir recently and looked enamoured by its scenic beauty. Tendulkar shared a clip on his Instagram account from the family trip, calling India’s northernmost geographic region as the ‘closest to heaven on earth’.
Tendulkar was accompanied on the trip by his wife Anjali and daughter Sara and they also stopped by at a bat manufacturing unit in Charsoo on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and interacted with the workers there.

“We were busy making bats when a vehicle stopped at our gate. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Little Master and his family,” Mohammad Shaheen Parray, owner of MJ Sports, told news agency PTI.
Parray said Tendulkar checked the quality of the bats made of Kashmir willow.
“He stroked a few bats and was quite pleased with the quality. Tendulkar said he had come to compare the Kashmir willow bats with those made of English willow. We requested him to lend his voice in support of the local bats,” Parray said, adding the batting maestro promised to support the Kashmir willow bats.
Tendulkar is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game and remains cricket’s most prolific run-getter in history. During his storied career, he scored a record 34,327 runs from 664 matches spread across 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and one T20I.
Tendulkar is also the only batter in international cricket history to complete a century of hundreds. In Tests, he struck 51 Tests while in ODIs he peeled off 49 centuries.
