Sudharshan’s knock of 103 runs has now pushed him to cross the 1000-run mark in the IPL. However he also now holds the record to be the fastest Indian batter to reach the milestone, eclipsing the likes of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and the current CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad by quite a margin.

Among the all-time list, the young left-hander now shares the third spot with the legendary Australian opener, Matthew Hayden and above the Englishman Jonny Bairstow.

Sudharshan has taken the IPL by storm, with improvements in his run-scoring as the seasons go by. He has come a long way from being that unknown youngster within the GT squad and now seems to be in the fray for being Shubman Gill’s new opening batter for the seasons to come.

In today’s game against CSK, with nothing to lose, Sudharshan took the opening slot in place of the injured Wriddhiman Saha and took his game against the defending champions to a whole new level. After a slump in form, he seems to have found his touch with the bat as the league stages come to a close.

However, it was not an easy start. Shubman Gill had to take the initiative within the powerplay and the 22-year-old eventually found his way groove and did not hold himself back as the opening pair stitched up a 200-run stand and set the record for the highest partnership against the five-time champions while also setting the record for the biggest partnership in the franchise’s history.
