Another rough day in the office for the Chennai Super Kings ensues, as pacer Deepak Chahar limped off the field after bowling just two balls in the very first over of PBKS’ chase of 163 against CSK at Chepauk today.
CSK, who are already dealt with the news of strike bowler Matheesha Pathirana suffering from a niggle and pacer Tushar Deshpande as well out with illness, now are forced to possibly add one more injury to their expanding list, as Chahar had to be escorted off the pitch early.

Chahar started off with the new ball for the home side, and after being whacked on the offside for four by opener Prahsimran Singh immediately grimaced, holding his hamstring which has been hampering him previously as well.

CSK were already facing an uphill battle after a slogfest of an innings with the bat initially, and this news now only adds to their misery as they go down one more bowler in the lineup, after having subbed in Impact Player Sameer Rizvi in the first innings.
From CSK’s best starting partnership in this IPL so far to the longest boundary drought, CSK’s innings saw it all.
After a blitzing start from Gaikwad and Rahane, the spin duo of Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar wove magic with the ball, as they conceded a mere 33 runs and scalped four wickets in their 8 overs altogether to exert a chokehold on the batting order.
But, a spirited fight from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who posted a fifty to capture the Orange Cap, and a handful of mindful knocks from Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni helped CSK steer to a fair total of 162 runs in 20 overs.
Now, it comes down to the likes of Mustafizur Rahman and debutant Richard Gleeson to power the pace attack for the remainder of the match.
