Mayank Yadav has a niggle and is a doubtful starter for Lucknow Super Giants’ next match of IPL 2024 against the Delhi Capitals. Mayank walked off the field during LSG’s home game against Gujarat Titans on Sunday after soreness in his lower abdomen.
The young pacer had sent down one over during the Powerplay and left the field during the 9th over of GT chase. He didn’t play any further role in the contest as LSG defended 163 for their third win of the season.
LSG CEO Colonel Vinod Bisht has said the franchise will be managing Mayank’s workload over the ‘next week’ leaving a big question mark over his availability for the next few IPL matches.
“Mayank felt soreness in lower abdominal area and as a precaution we are managing his work load over next week. We hope to see him soon in the field,” Bisht said in a statement.

Mayank has made quite an impression after making his debut against Punjab Kings, repeatedly clocking 150 kmph but against GT on Sunday, he barely managed to cross 140 kmph.
LSG next face DC on April 12 before returning to action after a day’s break to take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata
LSG allrounder Krunal Pandya had earlier said Mayank seemed alright.
“I don’t know what is happening. I had a brief chat and he seemed okay, which is a positive. Whatever conversation I have had, whatever we see, he has a good head on his shoulder. Really excited to see how his career pans out,” Krunal said.
The 22-year-old Mayank had just recovered from a side strain that saw him miss the entire Ranji Trophy season.
He won player-of-the-match awards in his first two matches of IPL, taking a three-wicket haul on each occasion.
Mayank may have delighted everyone with his express pace but what has been more pleasing his the control and accuracy he has over his bowling.
