Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis, captains of Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have been fined heavily for their offences after their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches on Sunday. The weekend double-header saw RCB locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the day game at Eden Gardens whereas Punjab squared off against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur later in the evening.
Du Plessis Fined for Slow Over-rate
Unlike their previous fixtures, RCB showcased a better performance with the bat and ball but unfortunately, they fell short of a victory by 1 run. Chasing 223, the Royal Challengers were bundled out for 221 in 20 overs.
As the visitors maintained a slow over-rate, skipper Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakh for the offence.

Curran breaches Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct
The evening game in Chandigarh saw Punjab Kings losing their 4th game in a row. After getting bowled out for 142, the Sam Curran-led side failed to defend the low total as Gujarat chased it down with 5 balls to spare and 3 wickets in hand.
The home captain was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct, committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8. Curran accepted the Match Referee’s sanction and has been fined 50 percent of his match fees.
