'Jee Jaan Laga Denge Lekin Inse Nahin Harenge': Former India Star Positive About Team's Chances Against Pakistan
India will take on Pakistan in New York on June 9 in what is expected to be a thrilling match at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Suresh Raina is positive about Team India’s chances in the blockbuster clash against Pakistan at the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. The two rivals will square off in a league fixture on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

India and Pakistan have been pooled in Group A.

Raina was part of Indian team that defeated Pakistan in the summit clash of the inaugural World T20 in 2007.

While speaking about the highly anticipated game, Raina showed faith in Indian captain Rohit Sharma, underling his leadership skills and tactical planning.

Raina feels the Men in Blue will put their heart and soul into the mega clash to ensure a victory.

He also wants both allrounders of the team– Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja– to step up on the big day.

“Our team looks very good. They are going to play against Pakistan in New York. Rohit led the team really, really well. He has been amazing with his planning and he is getting a lot of respect from the dressing room. We have a lot of options. We have two all-rounders,” Raina said during an event.

Raina further spoke about the hype and magnitude of an India vs Pakistan clash while reminiscing about the memory of the 2007 T20 World Cup final.

“We played a lot of matches, Yuvraj Singh, RP, Rahul, against Pakistan. When you are representing your country, you try to give your best. I am looking forward to playing against Pakistan in England. We have retired from the sport, but not from the heart. When you see the tricolour, you feel jee jaan lagaa denge lekin inse nahi haarenge (We will do anything and everything but not lose to them),” he said.

The Indian team has an exceptional winning record against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. The arch-rivals have squared off against each other seven times in the history of the tournament.

India have won six matches while Pakistan emerged victorious on a single occasion during the 2021 edition.

The last time they met was in 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) when Virat Kohli’s magical innings helped India clinch a thrilling victory.
