Mumbai Indians are all set to play Lucknow Super Giants in their last fixture of the IPL 2024. MI is at the bottom of the table with only eight points to their name in 13 matches so far.
This could very well be the last game for the visiting side too. Although, mathematically LSG is still in contention for the playoffs spot but their qualification seems far from possible. If they go on to win this match, they will end up with 14 points, which is enough to qualify but its their net run rate (NRR) which won’t help their case.
CSK is already on 14 points and if RCB beats the men in yellow on Saturday, even they will reach the 14-point mark. And both these teams have a better NRR than the Lucknow team.

MI Team News
There is nothing much to show for the five-time champion side this season. MI are at the bottom of the table and even a win here won’t guarantee them a chance to leave that spot since Punjab Kings have one match left.
As a squad, MI has a lot to think about and rectify but with the Mega Auctions scheduled before the next season. MI would want to forget this season and start afresh with a new-looking squad next season.
So what is there to play for tomorrow for the Mumbai side?
‘We have to play for our pride,’ MI’s Naman Dhir told the media on the eve of the of the clash.
Hardik Pandya and his team would want to end the season with a win and get whatever confidence they can before heading into the global T20 tournament in June. Quite a few players from MI will be representing India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies and they will be looking to get as much momentum in their favour as they can.

LSG Team News
Lucknow Super Giants have run hot and cold this season with some good performances but in phases. Even they would have been a strong contender for the playoffs if their NRR would have been much better than what it is right now.
The team has been in the news but for the wrong reasons. One of the major reasons behind LSG having a not-so-impressive NRR is the thrashing they got from Sunrisers Hyderabad when the team in orange chased down a good total given by LSG in just 10 overs. What followed was a sight that only made matters worse for them.
Lucknow would want to end the season with a win and be content with the thought of reaching the number of points required to qualify for the last spot. But at the same time, the thought of not having a better NRR would pinch them more in that situation.

MI VS LSG Pitch Report
Any team that wins the toss at Wankhede decides to field first more often than not. It’s the shorter boundaries and a batting-friendly pitch that tempts the teams to do so. In 115 IPL games at this venue, teams batting first have won 53 times, while chasing teams have won 62 times. Dew also becomes a major factor at Wankhede and makes life difficult for the spinners bowling in the second innings. No major changes are expected in the pitch for the MI vs LSG clash. The home team will back themselves to chase any total down on their own turf.
