Jasprit Bumrah was the notable absentee from the Indian team that landed in Ranchi on Tuesday afternoon for the 4th Test starting this Friday. The Indian cricket team landed in Ranchi around 4 pm from Rajkot and Bumrah wasn’t spotted. Rohit Sharma and Co. arrived at the Birsa Munda Airport via a private charter and also had the England team for company.
Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep were the only two seamers spotted at the airport. There were loud cheers for Rohit, coach Rahul Dravid and Shubman Gill as they made their way to the team bus waiting right in front of the exit gate.
R Ashwin acknowledged the cheers but egged the crowd on to continue hooting for Gill. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Ravindra Jadeja also got a rousing reception on their arrival.
KL Rahul, who missed the second and third Test due to an injury, is likely to join the squad in Ranchi today. It is understood that the right-hander has regained fitness and as captain Rohit Sharma informed after the presser in Rajkot, “should be okay” for the fourth India-England Test which gets underway on February 23.
There is a possibility of Mukesh Kumar rejoining the squad ahead of the Test. The seamer was released from the squad ahead of third Test and he turned up for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy contest vs Bihar at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Now with Bengal not in the quarters and Bumrah not in Ranchi, Mukesh is very likely to rejoin the team.
