Indian bowlers then put shackles on Bangladeshi batters as they struggled to find boundaries and repeatedly were outfoxed by left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav who finished with bowling figures of 3/19 from four overs. Bangladesh finished with 146/8 for their second defeat of the Super 8 stage.

Jasprit Bumrah (2/13) and Arshdeep Singh chipped in with a couple of wickets each.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rohit Sharma led a rapid start for India but his attacking intent put an early end to his innings as he holed out on 23 off 11.

Virat Kohli looked in fine touch and peeled off exquisite shots to signal a return to form in his knock of 37 off 28. Rishabh Pant played another entertaining innings, 36 off 24, but ended up losing his wicket for the second time in this competition while attempting a reverse sweep.

Kohli and Pant added 32 runs for the second wicket and India were cruising along nicely ay 71/1. However,  Tanzim Hasan Sakib struck twice in quick intervals to get rid of Kohli and Suryakumar (6) as India slipped to 77/3.

Bangladesh dented India further with the scalp of Pant in the 12th over.

Pandya and Shivam Dube then stitched a steady partnership as they saw through the tricky phase before unleashing a flurry of boundaries. The pair added 53 runs for the fifth wicket before being separated.

Dube blasted three sixes in his 24-ball 34 while Pandya struck a boundary off the last delivery of India innings to get to his half-century and later landed the first blow with his medium pace bowling to get rid of dangerman Litton Das (13) inside the Powerplay.
