Bankura Girl Achieves Remarkable 97.4% In WB Higher Secondary For Saotali Medium
Jyotsna Kisku, hailing from Sarenga town of Bankura district, topped the higher secondary board exam for the Saotali language in 2024 with flying colours.

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education released the Higher Secondary Board exam results for 2024 on May 8, around 1 p.m. The results were published on the official website, wbresults.nic.in, at 3 p.m. Results for science, commerce and the arts were published all together.

Jyotsna Kisku, hailing from Sarenga town of Bankura district, topped the higher secondary board exam for Saotali language in 2024 with flying colours. Jyotsna, a student from a lower-class family, emerged from the darkness of poverty to shine like a rare star. She made the whole Bankura proud by acquiring 484 marks out of 500 in the board exams. She received 97.4 per cent of the marks. According to the reports, she chose the Santali language to write her exams. Her immense success has brought a light of hope to the faces of the students hoping for a good future in Jungle Mahal through sheer will and hard work.

Jyotsna Kisku, a student of Raghunath Murmu Vidhyalaya from Raipur, Bankura, has been an exceptional student since class 5. She continued her studies at the school hostel. The final results were announced when she was working in the paddy fields with her parents. Her elder brother ran to them, bringing the news of Jyotsna’s victory. Parents of Jyotsna experience a rare yet precious moment in their lives with teary eyes.

When asked about the struggles, Jyotsna shared that they cannot afford to skip one day at the fields or daily wage work as it will make it impossible for them to have food on the plate for the day. She expresses her interest in becoming a teacher if her parents can afford her further studies. Her father, Shukdev Kisku, and mother, Sharmila Devi, assured her that they wanted to help her continue her studies anyhow.

According to Jyotsna, the headmaster of her school, Koushik Chatterjee, and other teachers helped her achieve this milestone.

This year, 90 per cent of the candidates from the 7.5 lakh students who appeared in the exam passed. Students were required to score only 33 per cent to pass the exams. The passing percentage increased by 2 per cent this year.
