Norwich: Manchester City's sudden goal drought continued on Saturday with the visitors squandering a chance to move top of the Premier League after a 0-0 draw at Norwich.

Man City had scored 68 goals from 23 league matches before losing 1-0 to Chelsea on Monday and again struggling at Carrow Road against lowly Norwich.

Man City are third with 54 points, two behind league leaders Chelsea.

At Birmingham, West Ham moved out of the relegation zone on Saturday following their 2-0 away win over Aston Villa in the Premier League

Kevin Nolan struck twice in quick succession for the Hammers as they secured their first back-to-back victories in the league this season.

The visitors took the lead within seconds of the restart following a goalless first half. Winger Stewart Downing found Nolan inside the penalty area, and his improvised back heel beat Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

The midfielder doubled his side's advantage in the 48th when he robbed midfielder Fabian Delph, before striding into the penalty area and slotting past Guzan.

Villa twice hit the woodwork through substitute Marc Albrighton and Christian Benteke but West Ham held on for the three points.

In another match, Thomas Ince and Joe Ledley scored on their debut for Crystal Palace as the London club continued its recovery with a 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Palace have taken 16 points from a maximum 21 at home under manager Tony Pulis, who took over after Ian Holloway resigned last October with the Premier League club five points adrift of safety. Saturday's win lifted Palace to 13th place, three points above the relegation zone.

Ince opened the scoring in the 15th minute by clipping the ball over Ben Foster from Yannick Bolasie's pass. Ince then turned provider with a corner that Ledley sent into the net with a powerful header.

Thievy Bifouma pulled one back after the interval before Marouane Chamakh sealed the game from the penalty spot.
