New Delhi: Italian defender Marco Materazzi, famous for being head-butted by Zinedine Zidane during the FIFA World Cup 2006 - has been head-butted again.
In a Serie A match between Inter Milan and Sampdoria on Sunday night in Genoa, Materazzi was head-butted by Sampdoria midfielder Gennaro Delvecchio on the chin.
After a late challenge on Inter keeper Julio Cesar, Materazzi got into an angry exchange with Delvecchio after which the incident took place.
The Sampdoria player was sent off in seventh minute for the assault.
Sampdoria coach Walter Novellino did not defend Delvecchio's act.
"A professional player cannot do such a thing and I won't try to defend it," Novellino said.
"Even if there was provocation his actions cannot be justified."
Inter coach Roberto Mancini said Delvecchio's dismissal was actually a hindrance.
"For 30 minutes we stopped doing what we normally do and we were too predictable," Mancini said.
"But after we scored it made things easier and we took control of the match."
Inter went on to win the match 2-0 against 10-man Sampdoria riding on goals by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Maicon.
