Rodriguez has spent the last two seasons coaching Almeria's second team in Spain's third division. At 34, Rodriguez is the topflight's youngest coach.
He will replace Javi Garcia after the former manager and club failed to agree on a contract extension despite earning promotion.
Almeria was promoted with Elche and Villarreal, while Mallorca, Real Zaragoza, and Deportivo La Coruna were relegated.
