Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin On Manchester City’s Transfer Shortlist: Report
25-year-old Lunin played a major role in helping Real Madrid win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles last season.

Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is reportedly one of the two players on Manchester City’s shortlist for the summer transfer window. Manchester City won the Premier League title for the fourth straight time this year. The reigning champions will now be looking to reinforce the squad for their title defence next season. With rumours of their goalkeeper Ederson’s potential departure to Saudi Arabia, the club is looking for someone who could fill the Brazilian’s place.

As per a report from One Football, Los Blancos keeper Lunin ‘meets parameters set’ by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. The other player in consideration is understood to be RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.

The same report specifies that Guardiola and his team feel Lunin is ‘young and ready to be a starter.’ Manchester City will be looking to take advantage of the 25-year-old’s complicated contract situation at the Santiago Bernabeu. Lunin is reportedly having ‘doubts’ about staying at Real Madrid. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is ‘already looking for offers’ while also having a renewal offer within his reach.

As for Ederson, the negotiations continue with the Brazilian, who remains on holiday with his family. Al-Nassr has already reportedly expressed an interest in the Manchester City goalkeeper, and it could see him earn more than £600,000 a week. But Manchester City remained relaxed after Stefan Ortega signed a contract extension with the club until 2026.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered an injury last season, leading to the club bringing in Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea. But another injury to the Chelsea shot-stopper paved the way for Andriy Lunin to get a chance. The Ukranian made the most of the opportunity and soon became a dependable option for Real Madrid manager Carlos Ancelotti.

Following a fantastic run, he eventually lost his spot to Courtois, who returned to full fitness. Hence, a big question mark still looms over the goalkeeper’s future with Real Madrid.

As for Dani Olmo, One Football describes his track to Manchester City as ‘really hot’. The pursuit for the 26-year-old is slowly getting concrete due to Pep Guardiola’s desire to bring him to the club. Manchester City are interested in the RB Leipzig midfielder, as they see him as an ideal candidate to replace Kevin de Bruyne at the club. Olmo has proven to be a crucial player for Leipzig, with eight goals and five assists in 25 games last season. He recently scored a crucial goal for Spain in their Euro 2024 quarter-final match against Germany.
