Film director Adam Wyngard has made another addition to his MonsterVerse franchise titled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The fifth installment of the much-loved film series promises more thrills and impossible fight sequences between two dreaded monsters living amongst humans. The recently released trailer of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire dropped by Warners Bros on December 3 has piqued the interest of the masses. The film comes three years after the 2021 blockbuster film Godzilla vs Kong, also directed by Adam Wyngard. The highly-anticipated sci-fi action film is set to hit the big screens on April 12, 2024, in four languages.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’s trailer begins with the visuals of a frantic seismometer marking some data. It is accompanied by a grim voice in the background saying, “For most of human civilisation we believed that life could only exist on the surface of our planet. What else were we wrong about? This world has more secrets than we could possibly imagine." Soon, the audience is introduced to a fantastical scenery of flying Pterosaurses followed by the dramatic entry of the monster ape — King Kong.
The official summary of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire explains that the film will showcase Kong and Godzilla joining forces “against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own." It will offer a glimpse into the world of Titans and the complex intricacies of Skull Island. The trailer portrays a scary-looking Godzilla emerging from beneath the ground in its fiery avatar. With power fights between the monsters and stunning visuals, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire promises to be an edge-of-the-seat experience.
Soon after the trailer release, viewers rallied into the comment section reacting to it. While one of them called the trailer to be a “Bomb of goosebumps" another asserted, “This will break all records". Many shared the same sentiment of being “excited" to watch the Adam Wyngard directorial.
Reprising their roles from the 2021 film Godzilla vs Kong are Rebecca Hall as Dr. Illene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia. Newcomers Fala Chen and Dan Stevens also make it to the trailer in important roles. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the 38th film in the Godzilla franchise and the 13th one in the King Kong franchise.
