- Open "Settings" > "Message" > Ensure MMS Messaging is turned on. If that doesn't work sign out of iMessage and sign back in.
- You can also check your network connection and make sure it is strong. Also, check your iPhone storage to make sure it isn't full.
- Try resetting your network settings. If that doesn't work, contact Apple Support.
Check Your MMS Settings
Open the Settings app iPhone Settings App Icon. It has an icon that resembles two silver gears. Tap the Settings app icon on your Home screen. If you are not receiving pictures in iMessage, check to make sure you have MMS enabled.
Tap Messages iPhone iMessage App. It's next to a green icon with a white speech bubble in the Settings menu.
Ensure MMS Messaging is turned on iPhone Switch On Icon. Ensure the toggle switch next to "MMS Messaging" is turned on. This allows users to send multimedia messages (images and videos) over text.
Check Your Network Connection
Make sure you have a strong internet connection. Try opening a web page or using another app to see if you have a strong internet connection. If a website, social media app, or YouTube videos are running slowly or not loading, your internet connection may be the problem.
Connect to Wi-Fi instead of mobile data. If you are connected to 5G or 4G, try connecting to a wireless network instead. If available, try connecting to a 5 Ghz network band. Use the following steps to connect to Wi-Fi. Open the Settings app. Tap Wi-Fi. Ensure Wi-Fi is turned on. Tap a network name. Enter the network password. Tap Join.
Enable iMessage in iCloud
Open the Settings app iPhone Settings App Icon. It has an icon that resembles two silver gears. Tap the Settings app icon on your Home screen. If you're not receiving images in iMessage, try enabling iMessage in iCloud.
Tap your Apple ID. To do so, tap your name at the top of the Settings menu.
Tap iCloud. It's near the top of the iCloud menu. This displays a list of apps.
Tap the toggle switch iPhone Switch On Icon next to "Messages." This enables iMessage in iCloud and allows you to sync your messages across all devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac). If iMessage is already enabled in iCloud, tap the toggle switch to disable it and then enable it again.
Reload iMessage
Open the Settings app iPhone Settings App Icon. It has an icon that resembles two silver gears. Tap the Settings app icon on your Home screen. You can reload iMessage by signing out of your account and back in. This will clear the cache and hopefully fix issues with images not loading.
Tap Messages iPhone iMessage App. It's next to a green icon with a white speech bubble in the Settings menu.
Tap Send & Receive. This displays details about the Apple ID you are logged into iMessage with.
Tap your Apple ID. This displays a menu prompt.
Tap Sign Out. This signs you out of your Apple ID in iMessage.
Tap Sign In. It's in the iMessage menu. Now that you have signed out, it's time to sign back in with your Apple ID.
Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage. It's in the iMessage menu. If your carrier doesn't support images over text message, you can get around this by signing in with your Apple ID instead of your phone number.
Sign in with your Apple ID. To do so, enter the email address and password associated with your Apple ID.
Reset Your Network Settings
Open the Settings app iPhone Settings App Icon. It has an icon that resembles two silver gears. Tap the Settings app icon on your Home screen. You may not be receiving images in iMessage if your network settings are wrong. Try resetting your network settings to try to fix the problem.
Tap General. It's near the top of the Settings menu.
Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone. It's near the bottom of the General Settings menu.
Tap Reset. It's near the bottom of the menu.
Tap Reset Network Settings. You will be prompted to enter your passcode.
Enter your passcode and tap Done. Your iPhone will reset your network settings.
Check Your iPhone Storage
Open the Settings app iPhone Settings App Icon. It has an icon that resembles two silver gears. Tap the Settings app icon on your Home screen. If you're not receiving images in iMessage, it may be that your iPhone storage is full. Check your iPhone storage.
Tap General. It's near the top of the Settings menu.
Tap iPhone Storage. It's in the middle of the General Settings menu.
Check if your storage is full. You will see a bar graph at the top of the page that shows how much storage is being used on your iPhone and what is taking up space (i.e. apps, media, photos, messages, etc). If your iPhone storage is full, you can free up space by deleting apps and deleting apps you no longer use. Alternatively, you can tap an app in the iPhone Storage menu and tap Offload app to delete the app without deleting the app data.
