This wikiHow teaches you how to turn on the automatic offloading of apps on the iPhone or iPad. Offloading is a feature that uninstalls the app from your phone but keeps your personal data and documents from the app stored on your phone so if you decide to later reinstall the app you won't lose your progress or work. These features are only available in iOS 11 and later. If you don’t see the options below, you may need to update your version of iOS.
Open Settings iPhone Settings App Icon. It's a gray app with the icon that contains gears and is typically located on your home screen.
Tap iPhone App Store Icon iTunes & App Store. It's at the top of the fourth section of settings under "Privacy".
Tap the "Offload Unused Apps" switch ON iPhone Switch On Icon. This enables the automatic offloading of any apps you don't use frequently. This will uninstall the app but keep any personal data or documents you had in the app on your phone. To reinstall the app, simply tap it on your home screen.
