Searching for Discord Servers with the Discord App
Click the "Discovery" tab in the Discord desktop app. It's located in the bottom left corner and looks like a compass. This icon isn't available on the Discord mobile app, so you have to use the desktop app.
Browse the featured servers or the popular categories, or search for a community. You'll see a list of featured servers, showing you a brief description of the server, how many users are online, and how many users have joined the server. Along the top of your screen, you'll see common server categories, like Gaming and Science & Tech. In the top right corner, you'll see a search bar where you can search for specific communities. Enter your search term like, "Cats" or "Roblox", then browse the search results for a server you like.
Click a server you want to join. You should see a preview of the server, which might only show you the Announcements channel. Server creators can set up privacy on their servers so people who aren't joined can't see discussion history or specific channels.
Click Join SERVERNAME. In the banner at the top of the app window, you'll see a button that you can click to join the server. It says the server's name instead of "SERVERNAME." If you don't like the server from the preview, click Back to return to the search results page and find another server. Depending on the server, you might need to answer a few questions and set your role before you can start interacting in channels.
Online Resources to Search for Discord Servers
Use Discord online. This site is the browser version of the "Discovery" tab on your Discord desktop app. Go to https://discord.com/servers and browse the list of featured servers, navigate through categories, or search for a specific community. Click a server that you want to join. Click Join Server on the right side of the window. The desktop app will open if it's installed; if not, you will be asked to log into your account in the browser. Click Join Server when prompted to open the server and add it to your list of servers.
Try Discadia. You can view and see servers before you join them with this site and see stats like how many people are currently online, how many Discadia votes that server has, and FAQ about the server. Go to https://discadia.com/ and browse the list of sponsored servers or enter a search term into the search box. Click Join on a tile of a server that you want to join. The Discord desktop app will open so you can join the server; if Discord isn't installed, it will open in the browser and you will need to log into your account to continue.
Use Disboard. Browse communities based on your interest and see brief descriptions of the servers before you join. Go to https://disboard.org/search and click a community topic or search for a specific term in the search bar. Click Join on a server you're interested in joining. The Discord desktop app will open so you can join the server; if Discord isn't installed, it will open in the browser and you will need to log into your account to continue.
Search your search engine. You don't even need to find a website that catalogs all Discord's servers. Instead, use your search engine and type in a search like "Roblox discord."
Look at subreddit information. If you're part of a subreddit and want to continue the conversation, look below the name of the subreddit for any Discord information. In many cases, if a Discord exists for that subreddit, it will show up there.
Check for hashtags on social media. If you're interested in a topic, posts referring to that topic might include hashtags that lead to a discord server.
Larger Discord communities can link to smaller ones. If you're in a larger, more general Discord server, a channel that you're interested in that's more niche might have its own server. You might find this information in the channel's description or in a pinned message.
Ask your friends or other community members. They might have a great suggestion for a Discord server!
Gaming platforms often have their own Discord servers. You'll find servers for Epic, Ubisoft, and other gaming platforms simply by looking at their websites; you can find more specific Discord servers for specific games, like Assassin's Creed or Disney Dreamlight Valley, within their main servers.
Can I join Discord servers without an invite link?
You can only join public servers on Discord without an invite link. You can find these servers to join without an invite link using any of the online resources or the "Discovery" tab on the Discord desktop app.
