Preparing a Lemon Apple Face Mask for Oily Skin

Mix the applesauce, lemon juice, and sage. Add 1 tablespoon (16 g) of applesauce, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of fresh lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon (1 g) of dried sage to a small bowl. Mix the ingredients together until they're well blended. Both apples and lemons contain natural fruit acids that help remove excess oil and exfoliate the skin. Sage is an herb that helps tighten the pores. You can substitute dried peppermint or lavender, which also have astringent properties.

Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. When the mask is completely mixed, use clean fingers to smooth it over your face. Allow it to dry, and let it sit on the skin for 5 to 10 minutes.

Wash off the mask with water. Once the mask is dry, use warm water to rinse it off. Pat your skin dry with a towel, and follow up with your usual skin care products. You can use the mask two to three times a week, depending on how oily your skin is.
Whipping Up an Avocado Face Mask for Dry Skin

Mash up the avocado. For the mask, you'll need half a ripe avocado. Place it in a small bowl, and use a fork to mash it up so it has the consistency of guacamole. Avocado contains healthy fats that are highly moisturizing.

Stir in the coconut oil and honey. Once the avocado is mashed, add ½ teaspoon (2 ¼ g) of coconut oil and 2 tablespoons (43 g) of honey to the bowl. Mix well until all of the ingredients are blended together. Like avocado, coconut oil contains healthy fats that effectively hydrate the skin. Honey is extremely soothing for dry, irritated skin.

Smooth the mask over your face and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. When the mask is fully mixed, apply it to your clean skin. Leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes so it has time to hydrate the skin. The mask works well to hydrate chronically dry skin. However, it's also good if your face is wind chapped, sunburned, or otherwise dry and irritated due to the elements.

Rinse off the mask. After you've allowed the mask to sit for about 10 minutes, wash it off with warm water. Pat your face dry, and use your usual moisturizer to lock in the hydration. Use the mask one to two times a week or as necessary to keep your skin moisturized.
Creating a Banana Face Mask for Acne-Prone Skin

Break up the banana with a fork. For the mask, you'll need one banana. Place it in a bowl, and use a fork to mash it up until it's mostly smooth. Bananas are high in vitamin A, which helps encourages skin cells to turn over so your pores stay clean. You can use an overripe banana. It will actually be easier to mash up if it's extremely ripe.

Blend in the baking soda and turmeric. When the banana is mashed, add ½ teaspoon (2 g) of baking soda and ½ teaspoon (1 ½ g) of turmeric powder to the bowl. Blend until all of the ingredients are well mixed. Baking soda helps absorb excess oil from the skin so it won't clog your pores and cause breakouts. Turmeric has antibacterial properties that help fight acne.

Massage the mask into your skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once the mask is mixed, apply it to your face with clean hands. Allow it to dry and sit on the skin for 15 minutes. Make sure that your face is clean and dry before you apply the mask. Wash it with your usual facial cleanser and pat it dry with a clean towel just before smoothing on the mask. You can apply the mask all over your face or just to the areas where you usually get acne.

Wash off the mask and pat your skin dry. When the mask has sat for 15 minutes, rinse it off your skin with warm water. Use a clean towel to dry your face, and follow up with your usual acne treatment products.
Mixing Up a Strawberry Face Mask for Mature Skin

Blend the berries in a food processor. Place 1 cup (200 g) of fresh or frozen strawberries in a blender or food processor. Process the berries until they're mostly smooth. Strawberries are high in vitamin C and other antioxidants that help fight free radical damage that can break down collagen. You can substitute other antioxidant-rich berries, such as raspberries or blueberries, or use a combination of berries.

Mix the berries with the yogurt and honey. Add 1 cup (250 g) of plain yogurt and 1 ½ tablespoons (32 g) of honey to the blended berries. Stir together until the ingredients are well mixed. Yogurt contains lactic acid, which is a natural exfoliant to help with fine lines and wrinkles. Honey is a natural moisturizer that can help hydrate mature skin.

Apply some of the mixture to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. The recipe makes enough for a delicious smoothie and a mask. Smooth a small amount of the mixture over your face with clean fingers, and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. If you don't want the smoothie, you can reduce the ingredient amounts.

Rinse off the mask. After the mask has sat on your skin for at least 15 minutes, wash it off with warm water. Pat your face dry with a clean towel, and apply your usual anti-aging products and moisturizer to finish. Use the mask one to two times a week.
