Connect to a FaceTime video call. If you are new to FaceTime, see this wikiHow to learn how to place or answer a call. You must be using iOS 12 or later to use Shapes in FaceTime.

Tap the screen. A row of icons will appear along the bottom.

Tap the effects button. It’s the star at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Tap the red squiggly line. It’s next to the ″Aa″ button at the bottom of the screen. The ″Shapes″ panel will expand at the bottom of the screen.

Tap a shape you want to use. The shape will appear over your video image.

Drag the shape to the desired position in the video. This is where the shape will remain until you delete it.

Select additional shapes (optional). You can add as many shapes to the video as you wish.

Tap Done. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. The Shapes panel will collapse. To remove a shape from the screen, tap the shape once, then tap the x at its top-left corner.
