As the Election Commission (EC) announced the poll date for Telangana (November 30), senior leaders of all parties have come forward to declare that they are confident of victory.
While Congress president A Revanth Reddy said the suffering of the people in Telangana is going to end in December with his party coming to power, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that it is surely going to be a hattrick for the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Kishan Reddy said there was a need to liberate Telangana from corruption and family rule.
Owaisi said: “We have announced three candidates in Rajasthan and will declare the same in Telangana soon. I am positive that the BRS is going to form government again.”
When asked about the Congress’ allegations that AIMIM is the B-team of the BRS, Owaisi replied: “Where were these opportunists and pseudo-secular people when I praised Dr Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2012? When the communists deserted them in 2008, I supported them for the nuclear deal, when the former CM of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy, brought a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, my party supported him. The Congress does not speak about these instances because of their political arrogance and intellectual dishonesty.”
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy said CM K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) contracted fever after hearing about the six guarantees of the Congress. “When the Congress announced six guarantees, KCR got fever. It’s time for KCR to take rest. He doesn’t need to come out of the farm house. The people of Telangana have already decided the winners in this election.”
He added that the BJP is trying to split the anti-incumbency vote. “People have understood the ‘Fevicol’ bond between the BJP and BRS and it is the responsibility of every son of Telangana to smash the conspiracies of these two parties,” he added.
At a press meet at their office in Nampally, BJP’s Kishan Reddy said that people have seen the rule of Congress and BRS parties. “The BRS did not respect the wishes of 1,200 martyrs. All the traitors of the movement are in ministerial positions or in Pragati Bhavan,” he added.

Alleging that KCR encouraged the use of money power and liquor in elections, senior leader Etela Rajender said: “KCR is credited with giving Telangana the worst culture of spending the highest amount of money in the country. The influence of money and alcohol was less in Telangana elections before. KCR decided to sell thousands of acres of land illegally and win the election with that money.”
While there was no communication from the chief minister at the time of publishing the report, BRS working president K Taraka Rama Rao attended public programmes in various districts and reiterated that the pink flag will keep flying in the state.
After inaugurating an integrated collectorate building in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, KTR said: “People know that the BRS is coming to power again. The people sitting here should once try to recall what their condition was 10 years ago, and how it has changed for the better now. What is the condition of farmers then and now? Has the amount of irrigation water changed? KCR took up a fast unto death to realise the dream of separate statehood for Telangana. He is the right person to continue walking on the path of progress. The Congress is asking for another chance now. The people gave them 11 chances in the past 75 years since independence. What change did they bring? People can see it for themselves.”
