‘Our Tolichowki boy…’: SS Rajamouli Reacts To Mohammed Siraj’s Heroics At Asia Cup Final
The famous director praised the Hyderabadi pacer for his outstanding contribution in the finals of the Asia Cup with figures of 6/21.

Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj breathed fire against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on Sunday. The pacer picked 6 wickets in the match to bring the hosts on their knees and bundle the innings at 50 runs, making way for a comfortable victory for India. Soon, social media was flooded with posts congratulating Siraj on his match-winning spell. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli also reacted to Siraj’s fiery spell and heaped praises on him in a tweet. Rajamouli recalled the moment from the match when Siraj was seen chasing the ball to the boundary towards the long-on in his follow-through.

“Siraj Miyan, Our Tolichowki boy shines at the Asia Cup final with 6 wickets. And has a big heart, running to long-on to stop the boundary off his own bowling,” Rajamouli wrote.

Mohammed Siraj did not just win fans’ hearts with his bowling but also with a thoughtful gesture after the match. The pacer dedicated his Player Of The Match award and prize money to the groundsmen for their contribution to pulling off a successful Asia Cup despite the trouble caused by rain.

“I think they deserve a lot of credit. The tournament would not have gone ahead without their work,” said Siraj at the post-match presentation.

Commenting on his career-best spell, Siraj said that he finally found the edges of the batters. As reported by Sportskeeda, Siraj said in the press conference, “I’ve been bowling well for the last couple of matches, but was only able to beat the bat. The edges came off the bat today. Tried to hit the areas, the wicket was seaming, but the ball swung a lot today.”

Siraj dominated the Lankan batters from the start taking 4 wickets in his second over of the game. He bowled 7 overs in his spell on a go and was always looking lethal. He ended up taking 6 wickets giving away just 21 runs. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 50 runs as Hardik Pandya took the last three wickets dismissing the Lankan tailenders with ease. India chased down the target in 6.1 overs and clinched the Asia Cup 2023 trophy for the second consecutive in the 50-over format. India registered a 10-wicket victory, with Ishan Kishan scoring 23 off 18 balls and Shubman Gill remaining unbeaten at 27 from 19 balls.
