This Government School In Andhra Pradesh Has Only One Teacher And One Student
According to Local 18, 4 students studied in this school in 2022, but now the tally has been reduced to just 1.

Have you ever heard of a school that has only one student and one teacher? Yes, there is one such primary school in the Peddi Naidu Kandriga village, Ramachandrapuram Mandal, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The student’s name is Gayatri. According to Local 18, 4 students studied in this school in 2022, but now the tally has been reduced to just 1. The state government has also not taken any steps to stop the educational facilities at that school. Instead, the government has left no stone unturned to help the school with all the facilities, so that they can provide quality education to children. Many physical activities and sports are also available for the students here. Jharina, the teacher employed in this school, has also tried her level best to be a pillar of support for Gayatri’s education.

The financial situation of Gayatri’s parents is not strong. They were not able to afford notebooks and uniforms for her. Jharina emerged as a beacon of support for them and bought notebooks and sewed uniforms for Gayatri. Jharina single-mindedly aims to provide quality education to Gayatri.

Only about 30 families are living in the village. Eight children are in the age group of 5 to 9 years. Only some of the children in this group have the resources to be admitted to this primary school. The parents of other children are sending them to a school in Venkatapuram village, located in Venkatapuram mandal of Khammam district in Telangana. The parents feel that it is better if the students can pursue studies in a proper educational environment. Some of the well-off families have accumulated the resources to send their students to private schools as well.

A similar incident was reported in Ganeshpur village in Washim district, Maharashtra. The village has a Zilla Parishad primary school. Classes 1 to 4 are allowed to be run in the school, but there is only one student in the school because he is the only child that falls in this age group in the village.
