15-year-old Gang-raped by 3 Men in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone, Police Investigation On

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three unidentified men near Marugarh village here, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in the Chainpur police station area in Jhiranya, around 60 km away from Khargone district headquarters where a 15-year-old was abducted by three men who later raped her.

The girl and her brother, who worked as daily wage labourers, were sleeping inside a hut in an agriculture field in the village when the three men approached the hut and demanded water. The men returned ten minutes later and demanded liquor to which the 19-year-old brother of the victim declined. Later, they dragged the girl to another part of the field and took turns to rape her, and hit the brother with a stick when he opposed them, Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chauhan said.

The youth called and alerted his family and some villagers and soon the family members landed there and started looking for the girl, who had fled to the farms. She was later found at ITI college in an injured condition. The family of the victim also chased the attackers but could not catch hold of them, the police said.

The girl’s family lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday morning. The Superintendent of Police Shailendra Chauhan and his team reached the spot at around 2 pm and took the girl for medical examination to Jhiranya.

The victim told the cops that two of the men spoke in tribal dialect while the third one used Hindi and Nimadi to communicate. “They had gagged me with a cloth and also punched and kicked me,” said the victim, adding they also tried strangling her but fled later on leaving the two-wheeler behind.

The accused were riding a bike which was stolen from Indore around three months ago and left behind the vehicle as it did not start.

A case of gang rape and abduction has been lodged after medical examination of the girl, said the SP claiming that CCTV footage of Indore is being scanned to trace the bike. The accused could be local who frequently visit Indore, opined the officer.
