CHENNAI: Two students were killed on the spot when the motorcycle in which they were travelling rammed the median on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai in Mylapore on Tuesday. Another two-wheeler rider sustained serious injuries in the accident. It was around 10.15 am when T Damodaran (22), a third-year BA History student of the Loyola College, was proceeding on his bike from T Nagar towards Marina Beach. A resident of Robertson Lane in Mandavali, he was riding his bike with his friend V Jagadeesan, an MCA student and a resident of Neelangarai, in the pillion, Adyar Traffic Investigation Inspector Ravi Kumaran told ‘Express’.Damodaran climbed the flyover on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai and was coming down in high speed, when his bike hit the median at the end of the flyover. “The two were thrown high into the air in the impact and sustained serious head injuries when they fell on the ground,” he said.The youth were killed on the spot. After the collision, the student’s bike fell on the other side and hit another motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction. The bike rider, Dr Ranjit Kumar (30) of Meenakshi Street in Bangalore, who works in a private hospital here, sustained fracture to his leg. He was admitted to a private hospital, where he underwent an operation, the inspector said.An autopsy on the bodies of the two students was done at the government hospital in Royapettah and were handed over to their parents. A case was registered under Section 304 (A), he added.
