BANGALORE: Three passengers were killed and 13 were severely injured after a goods tempo toppled and plunged into a lake. The incident was reported at Kuluvanahalli in Nelamangala rural police station limits in the outskirts of the city on NH-4 on Sunday.The police said that drunk driver was over speeding and he lost control over the vehicle and this led to the mishap. The deceased have been identified as Nagendra and Juhail, both aged 25 years, and Nagaraj (22). The latter succumbed to injuries after he was admitted to a private hospital while the other two were killed on the spot.According to the police, they had gone to a temple in Goravanahalli of Tumkur district and were on their way back to the city. While returning all of them, including the driver, are said to have consumed alcohol. Near Kuluvanahalli, which lies between Nelamangala and Dabaspet, the driver was over speeding the vehicle and lost control over it. As he applied brakes, the vehicle toppled and plunged into the lake that had dried up, the police said. Police have registered a case and further investigations are on in this regard.
