3 washed away in Krishna river

GUNTUR: Three people including the operator of a ferry were washed away while they were trying to cross Krishna river from Tangeda to Matampalli in the district on Thursday afternoon. Remaining passengers who were about 30 in number managed to swim to safety.According to information reaching here, the mishap occurred when the passengers, who were in a hurry to get down as the ferry was reaching the shore, came to one side of the raft where a lorry was parked. Officials pressed into service expert swimmers to look for the missing persons but they could not be traced till last reports came.
