Udaipur: About 45 children were rescued by Rajasthan police while they were being taken to work as labourers in cotton fields in Gujarat.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted three jeeps at Panarva Tiraha and Dachala Chowki last night and rescued the children belonging to the age group of eight to 16 years.
The children belong to poor families of Kotda, Jhadol and Kherwara tehsils, police said today, adding five persons have arrested for running the racket. They were being taken to Gujarat to work in cotton farms, they said.
The children were later reunited with their families.
