Kaziranga: Incessant rains have caused a flood like situation in many parts of Assam. There is 50 per cent water logging in lower areas of the Kaziranga National park. The forest minister has issued time cards and speed limit is set at 40 km per hour to prevent animals from being run over. The minister however clarified that there is no flood-like situation in Kaziranga as of now.

In Kaziranga National Park (KNP), famed for its one-horned rhino, the rising water of the Brahmaputra inundated low-lying areas in almost all the ranges with the animals moving to the highlands in neighbouring Karbi Anglong district, KNP Divisional Forest Officer SK Seal Sarmah said.

In Lakhimpur, nearly one lakh people have been affected in six revenue circles of Dhakuakhona, Naoboicha, Bihpuria, Narayanpur, North Lakhimpur and Subansiri by the rising water of the Ranganadi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said.
