Organizers of a 520-day mock flight to Mars say the crew is ready for a real one.

Moscow: Russian organizers of a 520-day mock flight to Mars say the crew is ready to "land" on the Red Planet, 233 days into the mission.

The all-male six-member international crew climbed into windowless steel capsules at a Moscow research center in June on a mission aimed at helping real space crews cope with the confinement and stress of interplanetary travel in the future.

None of the men has considered abandoning the mission, although they are free to walk out at any time, mission director Boris Morukov told reporters on Friday.

He says "they are still motivated, but there is a certain fatigue."

The six men are due to "land" on Mars on Feb. 12 and spend two days researching the planet.

A real mission to Mars is decades away.
