Renaissance Art Gallerie will play host to an exhibition of beautiful paintings by Bangalore based artists like Shalini Singh, Meera Gyanchand, Swati Rustogi and Sugantha Priya till July 5. Here’s what two of the artists had to say.Shalini SinghI was born in UP in 1975.And, I remember I always had an interest in drawing and painting from childhood as I always used to draw Rangoli designs during festivals. Thus, over the years my interest grew in art.My father who was working with Power Corporation had a transferable job which gave me the opportunity to move to visit different places. My house had a big garden filled with vibrant flowers. This gave me the opportunity to watch different kinds of flowers blooming in various season. Also, watching butterflies sitting on the flowers, seeing the different colors of leaves always excited me and motivated me further to pursue my interest. This led me to experimenting on paintings with the theme as nature. There are times where I would watch the flowers right from blossoming till the end and paint the same. My interest also grew in trees and landscape painting too. After completing my graduation in drawing and painting , I joined Masters in Fine art where I met my mentor and my teacher Dr Shaifail Bhatnagar who not only inspired me but guided and motivated me towards my interest in art. After completing my masters, I joined Phd and studied mainly on the paintings done during Akbar period which had many facets of nature and they also showed his deep interest in the subject. His paintings consisted mainly of the mountain ranges of UP, Rajasthan, and Delhi. His works showed the dry mountains of Rajasthan, clear skies and open grounds; which are the specialty of Akbar’s paintings. His work has a lot of reality in it. And, I find that very interesting.I am also extremely inspired by miniature paintings of Persian, Mughal and Rajuptana styles too.Meera GyanchandMy painting explores the quality of the human mind.As the mind cannot think of only one topic, so do my paintings which range from the third eye of God to a game of dice. I am also exploring various possibilities in forms, vivid colours and textures throughout my creative journey.
