A tribute to a great legend of Indian cinema

Dev Anand, the evergreen romantic actor, who passed away early this month, will continue to live through his melodious songs from his movies. Chennaiites paid tribute to the legend recently, by dedicating an evening to the late actor. Black and White Resto Bar at The Residency had singers sing some of the best known hits from Dev Anand's movies. Jaya and Sekhar, the two singers, came up with one hit number after another, while the sparse crowd swung and swayed to the melodious tunes and meaningful lyrics. The crowd cheered when Sekhar tied a scarf around his neck to get into the groove, a la Dev Anand style, when he partnered co-singer Jaya for Tujhe jiivan kii dor se baandh liyaa hai from the movie Asli Naqli. The evening was interspersed with other old hits of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor's movies, too. It did seem a tad out of place in an evening dedicated to Dev Anand. Like the famous lyrics of one of his hit songs, Mein zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, Dev Anand saab will continue to live through his works among all his fans
