AIADMK stages walkout from Assembly

PUDUCHERRY: The AIADMK members on Thursday staged a walk-out from the Puducherry Legislative Assembly saying the Lt Governor should not read out the address of a ‘minority government’. As soon as Lt Governor Iqbal Singh took position for his customary address on the opening day of Budget Session, all the  AIADMK MLAs were on their feet.AIADMK member Om Sakthi Sekhar was seen wearing a paper jacket with the picture of a knife and slogan “we have been stabbed in the back”. The AIADMK members also shouted slogans against the Lt Governor, but Singh completed his address without paying heed. AIADMK floor leader A Anbazhagan, members Om Sakthi Segar, P Purushottanam, L Periyasamy and A Baskar staged later walked out of the House.The Assembly also saw seat allocation for all the members for the first time in the 13th Assembly.  Leader of Opposition V Vaithilingam and Congress MLA A Namasivayam were not present during the session.
