CHENNAI: An AIADMK functionary on Saturday lodged a complaint at the Koyambedu police station against the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam chief, Vijayakant, for making slanderous remarks against Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.According to the complaint lodged by V Gnanamuthu, a high court lawyer and AIADMK Minority Wing leader, Vijayakant’s remarks at a press meet at the DMDK party office at Koyambedu, after he was suspended from the State Assembly for unruly behaviour, were despicable and defamatory. His press meet was widely telecast, the complainant alleged.“His comments in the press meet were false and aimed at tarnishing the image of the chief minister and hurtful. They could cause fear among the public and result in a law and order issue,” he said.The DMDK chief was suspended for 10 days from the Assembly for gesticulating during an argument in the House. He later held a press meet at his party office in Koyambedu.
