AP Congress leaders foresee solution in 2 months

HYDERABAD: An interesting debate took place between the Telangana and Seemandhra Congress leaders on state's bifurcation issue at the Congress Legislature Party office here on Wednesday. Both the groups came to the opinion that a solution to the imbroglio could be found in another two months. However, they differed on their respective demands.Senior leaders from Telangana Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, KR Amos, T Jeevan Reddy, K Yadava Reddy and others told senior Seemandhra leader JC Diwakar Reddy that the time had come for state's division and sought Seemandhra leaders' cooperation to settle the issue smoothly and peacefully. Palvai invited Diwakar to negotiations in this regard.In response the Tadipatri MLA asserted that he would agree to the state's bifurcation only if Rayalaseema was merged with Telangana.  Explaining the water problem being faced by the people of Rayalaseema for decades, he said the neighbouring Karnataka state did not agree to supply water to the region for political reasons. "We can help each other and resolve our problems including that of water if we live together like a family. If a Telangana leader is made chief minister,  the issue (Telangana) will exist no more," he remarked.Countering Diwakar's argument, Jeevan Reddy said the "CM post" was not at all an important issue now. Telangana state is people's demand. We have humanity and we will help you by supplying water after the state is bifurcated. You (Seemandhra leaders) took advantage of our inefficiency these years", he said.Strongly objecting to Diwakar's "Rayala Telangana" demand, Palvai said the main problem Telangana was facing was bacuse of Rayalaseema leaders. Amos pointed out that Seemandhra leaders had intentionally ignored to sign the Gentlemen's Agreement and violated all the agreements reached on Telangana.Referring to AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad's proposed meeting with Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders on August 8, Diwakar Reddy said he would ask Azad whether the Centre wanted to divide the state, and then ask for a Rayala Telangana state.
