Arab national detained

HYDERABAD: An Arab national was on Sunday night detained by the South Zone police following allegations that he married a girl from the Old City. Though the police suspect the girl is a minor, her parents maintain that she is aged 22, as per government documents.The Santoshnagar police, upon receiving information, detained Syed Hilal Hamoodi (46) of Sharjah, who had come to the city a few days ago. Police officials said Hamoodi, through his contacts in the city, married a girl from Moin Bagh in Santoshnagar on Sunday. As the police received information that the girl is a minor, they detained the Arab national.“The girl’s parents claim that her age is 22 as per her Aadhar card. But we have to confirm her age and so we sent her to the Osmania General Hospital for an age-determination test,’’ a police official said, adding they would take necessary action according to the report.
