Jammu: Against the backdrop of increasing ceasefire violations along Line of Control (LoC), Northern Command Chief Lieutenant General KT Parnaik on Tuesday reviewed security situation, operational preparedness and the ongoing counter-infiltration operations in Poonch sector of Jammu & Kashmir.
On his two-day visit to operational areas of 16 Corps, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-i-C) Northern Command visited Nangi Tekri forward area along LoC in Poonch Sector, which has been in news for some time due to ceasefire violations from across the LoC, Defence PRO SN Acharya said.
Flanked by GOC 16 Corps, Lt Gen AS Nandal, Lt Gen Parnaik also met the troops deployed on the Line of Control and in the hinterland of Jammu region.
The GOC-in-C reviewed defence preparedness and the ongoing counter-infiltration operations along LoC, he said, adding that the Commander also interacted with troops and complimented them for their efforts in maintaining the sanctity of the LoC.
Poonch sector has witnessed five ceasefire violations since December last by Pakistan troops amid attempts of infiltration of militants, which were foiled.
