Chennai: In a heart-warming gesture, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday donated Rs 3 crore for the security personnel who either lost life or sustained injuries during last month's terror attacks in Mumbai.
BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan made the announcement after the conclusion of the first India-England Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Of the amount, Rs 2 crore would go to the families of the heroes - Police, National Security Guard, Naval Commandos and Firemen - who laid down their lives while fighting the terrorists in Mumbai.
The remaining Rs 1 crore would go to the police personnel, commandos and firemen who sustained injuries in the rescue operations, Srinivasan said in a statement.
