In a fatal accident reported from Karnataka’s Bengaluru on Monday, a motorist died after his two-wheeler collided with a parked car, which belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje. The mishap took place near Ganesha temple in Bengaluru’s KR Puram area.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Prakash, whose two-wheeler collided with the door of the BJP MP’s parked vehicle. It was later discovered that Prakash was also a BJP worker.
The accident happened when the Union Minister reached the neighbourhood for canvassing ahead of the Lok Sabha election. Her driver opened the door on his side and Prakash, who was on a scooter, crashed into it. He was then thrown towards the road. Before he could get up, he was run over by a private bus coming from behind.
The injured motorist was immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. However, he succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment
The police said that a case has been registered against both the driver of the car, which belongs to the legislator and the private bus driver, who ran over the bus and both have been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, Karandlaje mourned the death of Prakash and said he was a dedicated BJP worker. She assured that proper compensation will be paid to the family from the party fund.
“We all are pained. Prakash was our dedicated worker, who used to be with us round-the-clock. We are with his family. We will pay the compensation from our party fund,” the minister said.
For the unversed, Shobha Karandlaje is the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in the BJP-led government.
She recently filed her nomination as the BJP’s candidate from Bangalore North for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
