THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The remand of Biju Salim, the first accused in the e-mail snooping controversy was extended till March 31 on Tuesday. The Judicial Magistrate Court here would consider Biju Salim’s bail plea on Wednesday. The Crime Branch special team had collected crucial evidence of conspiracy behind the fabrication of fake letter that was passed to the media by Hi-tech Cell SI Biju Salim.The Crime Branch had collected evidence from a person in Kozhikode on Saturday last, whose name was mentioned by Biju Salim during the interrogation that took place at the Police Headquarters here.Meanwhile, there is mention about some mediapersons in the case diary but a decision on whether to take any case against them would only be taken in consultation with the State Government.The State Government may seek the Advocate- General’s advice before taking a decision. The officials probing the case had also visited the headquarters of the magazine, in Kozhikode, that published the report that e-mails of 258 members of a particular community had been hacked.The special team led by Crime Branch DySP Radhakrishna Pillai had taken Biju Salim,who was in remand, to collect the evidence.
