BANGALORE: It seems the legal problems for former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa are not going to end soon, as the Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed him to file his objections to a PIL filed by Congress MLA N L Narendra Babu regarding denotification of a one-acre plot in Nandini Layout. In his petition, Babu had alleged that Yeddyurappa, when he was the CM, had instructed authorities to drop the process of acquisition of the site.Stating that the denotification order was issued without application of mind and with mala fide intention, Babu alleged that the land was acquired for public purpose under a scheme executed as per the provisions of the Bangalore Development Authority Act, 1975.Babu had said the land at Jarakabandekaval village was acquired in 1977 and the final notification was issued in 1979. Even the application seeking denotification by one Yellappa, who claimed to be the son of the original owner, was rejected by the Denotification Committee in 2003. “Interestingly, the former CM denotified the land on ‘humanitarian grounds’ in 2009, six years after the appeal was rejected,” G R Mohan, counsel for Babu, had submitted. The petitioner said the Law Department on January 2, 2010, rejected the denotification.
