BHUBANESWAR: Election to students’ unions of colleges across the State will be held on September 29, the Higher Education Department announced here on Monday.All the government and non-government colleges will notify the election on Tuesday which will formally usher in the election process. Nomination papers will be filed on September 22 between 9 am and 12 noon and scrutiny held between 2 pm and 4 pm. The Higher Education Department notification said the list of eligible candidates will be brought out on September 23 at 11 am and candidates can withdraw their nomination by 4 pm the same day so that the final list can be published at 5 pm. As per the schedule, “Why I Stand For” will be held on the college campuses on September 28 while voting will be held between 8 am and 2 pm the following day. Counting will be held soon after voting and results declared immediately. On September 30, the victorious candidates will be officially sworn in by the colleges. The City colleges have already witnessed violence on the run up to the students body election. At least three colleges came under scanner for bloodshed earlier this month.
